Find an apprenticeship

Apprenticeships are a great way to combine work with relevant course study, and there are literally hundreds to choose from. They are a good early career entry route into the workplace, so it is just like applying for a job.

Health and Care employers use a few different websites to advertise apprenticeships and most employers will advertise throughout the year when vacancies become available. For some programmes, apprentices start in September or March according to their study programme. The best advice is to set up alerts on the job sites and keep looking.

Amazing Apprenticeships have lots of great information on apprenticeships across all kinds of roles and an apprentice arcade to find out more.

UCAS - What Are Apprenticeships? also gives great information and advice on levels of apprenticeships, how they work, and how to apply. There is also a higher and degree level apprenticeship listing indicating when some of the large employers advertise their opportunities.

All the apprenticeships in the NHS are advertised on NHS Jobs where you can set up a search and browse employers in your local area and further away.

Lots of small employers, like care homes, dental practices or community pharmacies will advertise on  Find an apprenticeship government site and come colleges will also have a jobs board for students.

If you're interested in a social care career, look carefully at local council websites as most place their opportunities there. Sometimes social media, like Facebook or Linked in will also carry adverts so it can be worth following employers that you particularly want to work for.

Remember too that your teachers, family and friends might work in the health and care sector so ask them about it and see if they know of anything coming up.
